EMPLOYEE INTERVIEW

Kounosuke Ono

Aviation Division

Kounosuke Ono

KONOSUKE ONO

What led you to join the company?
I've loved airplanes since I was a student, and my older brother getting a job at an airline company inspired me to pursue this industry. During my student years, I worked as a ground staff member, providing customer service at the airport. I became interested in the work I heard about from an aviation-loving acquaintance who works at WAB, and after graduating from university, I joined WAB Corporation.
How is your work at WAB?
WAB has many professionals from the aviation industry, and senior colleagues patiently teach me anything I'm unsure about in my daily work. On the other hand, since communication is primarily in English, both in emails and on the ground, I actively engage in language learning. Within six months of joining the company, I'm now in charge of a cargo jet I'm responsible for.
What do you find rewarding about your work?
While there are times when dealing with irregular situations, such as applying to relevant government agencies, coordinating with customs and immigration, and adjusting ground handling and in-flight meals, I always feel a great sense of accomplishment when I see the aircraft depart safely. Above all, as someone who loves airplanes, I find this job, which allows me to work close to aircraft, very appealing, and I am also satisfied with the salary and work-life balance.

YUKO NAKANO

What led you to join the company?
I've been interested in English since I was little, and I aspired to work in the aviation industry where I could utilize my language skills. I'm in my fourth year at WAB, but I've been in the industry for about nine years now.
How is your work at WAB?
My previous job involved handling and coordinating private jets at an airport, and since it was an airport that dealt with a lot of private jets, cargo flights are an area where I'm still striving to grow since joining WAB. With cargo charter flights, the destinations vary depending on the cargo, so it's not uncommon to go to various airports such as New Chitose, Fukuoka, and Kobe to work, but there's a certain enjoyment in being able to work at airports all over the country.
What do you find rewarding about your work?
What I find challenging is dealing with unexpected situations. There was a time when a flight I was in charge of had to return to the airport due to a problem, and I stayed with the aircraft for maintenance until midnight. In that sense, it's a job where you can't let your guard down even after sending off a flight, but when customers say "thank you," all the hard work is worth it, and I feel a sense of fulfillment.
